Split Ferry Port
Split is the ferry hub of the Dalmatian coast — a busy working port where catamarans and car ferries fan out to Hvar, Brač, Vis, Korčula and the islands beyond.
The port
Split's ferry terminal sits right on the Riva, the seafront promenade at the edge of Diocletian's Palace. The city-centre location makes it easy to walk from Split's Old Town, and a large waiting area with ticketing booths handles the busy summer traffic. Jadrolinija — Croatia's national ferry line — is based here, joined by Krilo (Kapetan Luka) for catamaran services.
What goes where
From Split you can reach most of the central Dalmatian islands: Brač (car ferry to Supetar, roughly 50 minutes), Hvar (catamaran to Hvar Town in about an hour, or car ferry to Stari Grad), Vis (car ferry in roughly 2.5 hours), and Korčula via both catamaran and car ferry. In summer, services extend further south and connect with the Dubrovnik region.
International ferries
Split is also the Croatian end of the Ancona–Split overnight route — car ferries run by Jadrolinija and SNAV link Croatia with Italy, making Split a gateway for drivers travelling between the two countries.
Planning tips
Summer frequency is high but crowds are higher. Buy catamaran tickets in advance if you know your travel dates; for car ferries, booking ahead removes the stress of queuing and the risk of missing a sailing.

Frequently asked questions
- Which terminal in Split do ferries leave from?
- Most inter-island catamarans and car ferries depart from the ferry terminal on the Riva waterfront in central Split. Jadrolinija and Krilo both use this terminal; it is a short walk from the Old Town.
- Can I take a car to the Dalmatian islands from Split?
- Yes — Split runs frequent Jadrolinija car ferries to Brač (Supetar), and car ferries also serve Hvar (Stari Grad), Vis and other islands. Book car space ahead in July and August.
- How early should I arrive at Split ferry port?
- For catamarans, aim to be at the port 30 minutes before departure. For car ferries, arrive 45–60 minutes early in peak summer to queue for vehicle loading.
