Where it leaves from
The crossing departs from Killini, a small port at the western tip of the Peloponnese peninsula, about 70 km south of Patras by road. Killini is not a large town, but it functions as a dedicated ferry embarkation point with a car-ramp terminal, ticket office and a few services. Drivers coming from Athens or Patras typically follow the coastal road around from the north.
The crossing to Zakynthos
The ferry arrives at Zakynthos Town port on the island's eastern coast after a roughly one-hour crossing. This is one of the shortest Ionian crossings and the sole regular car-ferry link to Zakynthos. Levante Ferries, which dominates the Ionian mainland routes, operates the service with conventional car ferries year-round. There is no high-speed option on this route.
Frequency and booking
Sailings are frequent in summer to cope with the very high tourist demand for Zakynthos — one of Greece's most visited islands, known for the turtle-nesting beaches at Laganas and the famous Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach. In peak July and August, car spaces sell out quickly and advance booking is strongly recommended. Foot passengers have more flexibility but should allow time to queue in busy periods.
From Zakynthos Town to the beaches
Zakynthos Town port is at the edge of the island capital. Car hire, taxis and buses are available at or near the port. The island's famous west-coast beaches — Navagio, Porto Vromi, Xigia — require either a hire car or a boat trip, as the mountainous interior makes direct bus access difficult. Plan your transport before you arrive in high season.
