Where it leaves from

Jadrolinija's catamaran to Rab departs from Rijeka's main ferry terminal on the city waterfront, a short walk from the city centre and the rail and bus stations. The route threads southward through the sheltered waters of the Kvarner Bay, passing close to the island of Krk before reaching Rab. The catamaran arrives at Rab Town harbour, in the heart of the medieval old town.

Passenger-only service

This is a passenger-only catamaran — there is no facility to carry cars, motorcycles or bicycles on the direct Rijeka–Rab route. Travellers with a vehicle should instead use the Stinica–Mišnjak car ferry, which departs from Stinica on the mainland coast (accessible via the A1 motorway and the coastal road near Jablanac) and crosses to Mišnjak at the north end of Rab island in about 15 minutes. The car ferry runs frequently through the day in summer without advance booking.

Operator

Jadrolinija, Croatia's national ferry company, operates this route as part of its broader Kvarner island network. Tickets can be bought at Rijeka's ferry terminal or booked in advance online. In summer, it is worth booking ahead — the catamaran is popular with visitors heading to Rab's beaches and old town.

Onward from Rab

Rab Town is the island's social and historic centre, with medieval towers, a waterfront promenade and beaches nearby. Buses connect the port with the rest of the island; car hire is available if you want to explore further afield. Seasonal services also link Rab with Novalja on Pag island, useful for continuing an Adriatic island-hopping itinerary.
