Where it leaves from
Ferries sail from Mykonos New Port (Tourlos) on the north side of the island. Local buses run between the port and Mykonos Town (Chora); taxis are also readily available. You arrive at Parikia, Paros's main harbour and capital, a lively whitewashed town with a Frankish castle and the famous Panagia Ekatontapiliani church just a short walk from the quay.
A short, central hop
Mykonos and Paros are among the busiest Cycladic ferry hubs, and the connection between them is one of the quicker links in the island network. High-speed catamarans complete the crossing in around 45 minutes; conventional services add up to an hour. The route is popular in summer so booking ahead — particularly for weekend sailings — is sensible.
Operators
SeaJets and Fast Ferries operate high-speed catamarans on this connection in summer. Schedules thin out considerably from October through April, so check availability carefully in shoulder season and confirm your return connection before committing to both islands.
Paros as a base
Paros is arguably the best-placed island for inter-island travel in the Cyclades. From Parikia and nearby Naoussa you can reach Naxos in under an hour, Santorini in 2 hours, Ios, Mykonos, and direct services back to Piraeus. The island itself has excellent beaches — Golden Beach and Santa Maria on the east coast — plus the marble-quarrying village of Marpissa and a laid-back pace that contrasts well with the buzz of Mykonos.
