The crossing
Catamarans run by Jadrolinija and Krilo (Kapetan Luka) connect Dubrovnik's Gruž harbour with Korčula Town, covering approximately 100 km of open Adriatic in around 2 hours. Some services are direct; others follow the coast and call at Mljet (Polače or Sobra) or the Elaphiti Islands along the way, which adds time but offers flexibility for multi-island itineraries.
Korčula Town
The ferry arrives at Korčula Town, a remarkably preserved medieval walled city on a small peninsula. The grid of narrow stone streets, the Cathedral of Saint Mark and the towers of the old walls are all within a few minutes' walk of the ferry quay. Korčula is also known for the traditional sword dance, the Moreška, performed during the summer season.
Travelling with a car
The Dubrovnik–Korčula catamarans are passenger-only. Drivers can reach the island via the Pelješac peninsula: take the road across the bridge to Pelješac, drive to Orebić, and catch the short Jadrolinija car ferry to Dominče (just outside Korčula Town) — the crossing takes about 15 minutes. This is the practical route for anyone with a vehicle.
Connecting onward
From Korčula, catamarans and ferries continue north to Hvar and Split, making this route part of the classic Dalmatian island-hopping chain. Travelling south from Split to Dubrovnik via Korčula is a scenic multi-day option that avoids doubling back.
