A direct island-to-island link

The Korčula–Hvar crossing connects two of Dalmatia's most visited islands without needing to backtrack to the mainland. Krilo (Kapetan Luka) and Jadrolinija both operate catamaran services on this leg, running along the inside of the islands through the sheltered Pelješac and Hvar channels.

Both islands lie on the same island-hopping spine that runs from Split down towards Dubrovnik, so this leg fits naturally into a multi-island itinerary. Korčula Town, with its walled old centre, makes an excellent overnight stop before or after crossing to Hvar.

Passenger-only catamarans

All direct services between Korčula and Hvar are passenger-only catamarans — there is no car ferry on this specific pairing. Bicycles can usually be carried in the hold for a small fee, but space is limited; confirm when booking. If you are travelling with a vehicle, the practical alternative is to use Jadrolinija's car ferry network via Split.

Catamarans are faster and more comfortable in calm seas, but they can be cancelled or delayed in strong bura (northerly) winds. In summer the Adriatic is generally calm, but it pays to keep an eye on conditions if you are on a tight schedule.

Operators

Krilo is a private catamaran operator running fast services along the Dalmatian coast from Split to Dubrovnik in summer; the Korčula–Hvar stop is part of that longer route. Jadrolinija, Croatia's state ferry company, also connects the two islands. Compare departure times — services do not always coincide, and one may suit your onward plans better than the other.

Booking and planning tips

Seats on both services are limited, so booking online ahead of travel is strongly recommended in July and August. Arrive at the Korčula Town ferry quay a few minutes before departure; the boarding process is quick, but the catamaran will leave on time. On the Hvar end, services arrive at Hvar Town harbour, right in the old centre — no transfer needed.
