Ibiza Ferries
Everything you need to know about ferries to and from Ibiza — the port of Eivissa, mainland connections from Barcelona, Valencia and Dénia, and the short hop to Formentera.
The port: Ibiza Town (Eivissa)
Ibiza's main ferry terminal sits in the heart of Ibiza Town (Eivissa), below the Dalt Vila (old walled city). It is a working commercial port that handles overnight car ferries from the mainland as well as smaller fast-passenger vessels to Formentera. The setting — with the illuminated ramparts rising above the harbour — is one of the most scenic ferry arrivals in the Mediterranean.
Mainland connections
Three ports on the Spanish mainland serve Ibiza directly. Dénia is the closest at roughly 2 to 3 hours by fast ferry; Valencia offers daytime crossings of 5 to 7 hours; Barcelona is the longest option at 8 to 9 hours overnight but pairs a comfortable cabin with a scenic arrival at dawn.
The Formentera hop
From Ibiza Town, the neighbouring island of Formentera is just a 30-minute passenger ferry away, operated by Baleària and Trasmediterránea. Services run throughout the day in summer, making a day trip perfectly feasible. Note that you cannot take a car on this crossing — you either rent at each end or leave your car in Ibiza's port parking.
Planning tips
Ibiza is one of the busiest ferry ports in Spain in July and August. Book your mainland crossing early — both vehicle and cabin space sell out in peak summer. Arriving early for boarding is advisable, as the port gets congested during major festival weekends.
