Corfu Ferries
Everything you need to know about ferries to and from Corfu (Kerkyra) — the port, crossings from the Greek mainland, and connections through the Ionian.
The port: Kerkyra
Corfu's ferry port is in Kerkyra, the island's capital, on the eastern coast looking across to the Albanian mainland. The port is compact and within walking distance of the old town — you step off the ferry and the Venetian fortifications are immediately visible. Car ferries dock at a dedicated ramp; the terminal building has ticket offices and basic facilities.
The crossing from Igoumenitsa
The primary ferry link is the short crossing from Igoumenitsa on the Greek mainland. The two coasts are only about 12 nautical miles apart, making this one of the busiest short crossings in the eastern Mediterranean. Services run throughout the day; a consortium of operators including Kerkyra Lines keeps departure frequency high, particularly in summer. The route is year-round.
Getting around from Kerkyra port
The port sits at the edge of Kerkyra town, close to the Spianada square and the old Venetian quarter. Local buses run from a nearby terminal to destinations around the island, including Paleokastritsa, Sidari and Kavos. Taxis are available at the port exit. If you are continuing to another island, check connections through Igoumenitsa to Kefalonia or Zakynthos.
Planning tips
Sailings are frequent enough that most travellers do not need to book far ahead for a foot-passenger ticket. However, if you are taking a car in July or August, reserve a car space at least a few days in advance — the short crossing is popular with motorists heading south through the Ionian.
