Brač Ferries
Everything you need to know about ferries to and from Brač — the Supetar car ferry terminal, connections from Split, and how to plan a visit to Dalmatia's largest island.
The port: Supetar
Ferries to Brač arrive at Supetar, a compact town on the north coast directly opposite Split. The Jadrolinija car ferry runs the crossing in around 50 minutes and is one of the most frequent ferry routes on the Dalmatian coast — making Brač among the easiest islands to reach from the mainland. The port is central to the town, with accommodation, restaurants and a bus station within easy walking distance. From Supetar, the island's road network branches east towards Pučišća and Sumartin, south towards Bol, and west towards Milna.
Routes from Brač
The Split–Supetar car ferry operated by Jadrolinija is the island's lifeline. In peak summer, frequency is high enough to make walking up to the ferry practical for foot passengers. In shoulder and winter season, fewer daily sailings mean it's worth checking the timetable carefully. Additional peak-season services link Split and Bol by high-speed catamaran, convenient if Zlatni Rat beach is your destination. There is no direct ferry connection between Brač and Hvar Town — most travellers route via Split.
Zlatni Rat and Bol
Brač is best known for Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape), the triangular shingle beach at the western edge of Bol that juts into the sea and shifts shape with the currents — one of the most photographed beaches in the Mediterranean. Bol is also a well-regarded windsurfing and kitesurfing destination, with reliable summer Maestral winds. The old stone quarry town of Pučišća and the interior village of Škrip (home to an island museum) are worth a half-day detour for those staying longer.
Planning tips
Brač is well set up for day trips from Split — the 50-minute ferry makes it practical, especially for a beach day at Bol. Hiring a car or scooter on arrival is recommended if you want to get beyond Supetar and Bol. In July and August, bringing a car on the Supetar ferry requires booking ahead; foot passengers can usually walk on. Accommodation in Bol books out early — reserve several months ahead if you want to stay in the village itself.
