Rafina Ferry Port

Rafina is Athens' secondary ferry port, conveniently close to the international airport and the fastest departure point for Mykonos, Tinos and Andros.

Athens' airport port

Rafina lies on the Attica coast about 30 km east of central Athens — and only 15–20 minutes from Athens Airport. For travellers flying in and heading straight to the islands, it is often quicker and simpler to use Rafina than to make the cross-city journey to Piraeus.

Routes from Rafina

Rafina is the preferred departure point for Mykonos, Tinos, Andros and Syros. High-speed catamarans cover Mykonos in about 2–2.5 hours, slightly faster than equivalent services from Piraeus. Several operators serve these routes, including SeaJets and Fast Ferries.

The port itself

Rafina is a compact fishing-town harbour. The ferry terminal is simple but functional, with a ticket booth, small café and outdoor waiting area. There is limited luggage storage, so travel light or plan accordingly.

Tips for arriving travellers

If you land at Athens Airport and want to reach Mykonos the same day, the Rafina route is the most efficient option. A taxi to the port is straightforward, and fast ferries run regularly in summer. Book ahead in July and August when sailings fill up quickly.
