Where it leaves from

Ferries for Ajaccio depart from the Port de Nice (Lympia harbour), a few minutes by taxi from the city centre or a short walk along the waterfront from the old town. You dock at Ajaccio's gare maritime, right on the seafront of Corsica's capital — Napoleon's birthplace and the island's largest city.

The crossing

At around 6 hours, the Nice–Ajaccio run is the longer of the two main Nice–Corsica routes, since Ajaccio is on the island's west coast. Corsica Ferries uses high-speed vessels with passenger lounges, cafeteria and open deck space. A morning departure typically arrives in Ajaccio by mid-afternoon.

Ajaccio: what to expect on arrival

Ajaccio is the administrative capital of Corsica and has a distinctly French character alongside its Corsican identity. The ferry terminal is adjacent to the main waterfront boulevard, making it easy to walk to hotels, restaurants and the Saturday market. Car hire is available at the port and at the nearby airport.

Seasonality

Like all the Nice–Corsica routes, this service is strongly seasonal — running most reliably from June through September, with lower frequency in April, May and October. It is likely to be suspended in winter. July and August are the busiest weeks for French and Italian visitors; book vehicle places and preferred cabins (if available) as early as possible.
