Where it leaves from
The Bodrum–Kos ferry departs from Bodrum's passenger ferry terminal in the town centre, within sight of the medieval Castle of St Peter. The crossing is brief — around 20 to 30 minutes — arriving at Kos Town harbour on the northeastern tip of the Greek island of Kos, directly below the ancient Castle of the Knights of St John. Both terminals are central and walkable from the town's restaurants, hotels and main streets.
An international border crossing
This short crossing spans the frontier between Turkey and Greece. Despite the brevity of the voyage, it is a full international border crossing: passengers pass through Turkish exit formalities and Greek entry procedures at both ends. All passengers must carry a valid passport. Depending on your nationality, you may need a Schengen visa (to enter Greece, which is in the EU/Schengen Area) or a Turkish e-visa (to enter or re-enter Turkey). Do not attempt the crossing with an identity card or expired travel document.
Operators and vessel types
Turyol and the Bodrum Ferry Boat Association (Bodrum Ferryboat) operate the route using fast passenger catamarans and hydrofoils. These are passenger-only vessels — no cars, motorcycles or bicycles are carried. Frequency and vessel type vary by season and operator; check both Turyol and Bodrum Ferry schedules to find the best option for your travel dates.
Seasonal patterns and booking
The Bodrum–Kos crossing is a seasonal service, operating at its highest frequency from April through October. In July and August there are typically daily sailings, sometimes multiple per day. From November through March the service is reduced to a handful of weekly departures or suspended — verify current availability before planning winter travel. Booking in advance is advisable in peak summer, particularly around public holidays and popular departure times.
