Barcelona Ferry Port
Barcelona is the main gateway for overnight ferries to the Balearic Islands — Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca — as well as international crossings to Genoa and Civitavecchia.
The port
Barcelona's ferry terminal sits at the foot of La Rambla, next to the Columbus monument and La Barceloneta beach. It is one of the busiest passenger ports in the western Mediterranean, handling overnight crossings to the Balearic Islands and longer international routes to Italy throughout the year.
Balearic routes
The port is the primary mainland hub for ferries to Mallorca (Palma), Ibiza Town (Eivissa) and Menorca (Maó). Most of these are overnight crossings of 7 to 9 hours, well suited to a cabin booking that saves you a night's accommodation. Summer sees the highest frequency, with multiple departures per week or even daily on the Mallorca line.
Italy connections
Baleària and Grimaldi Lines also operate from Barcelona to Genoa and Civitavecchia (port of Rome), making it a useful starting point for a Barcelona–Italy road trip. These are longer voyages of roughly 18 to 20 hours.
Practical tips
Book vehicle space early for any July or August departure — car decks fill before passenger cabins do. If you are foot-passenger only, last-minute deals occasionally appear outside peak season. The terminal has a café, luggage storage and a duty-free shop, so allow a little extra time before boarding.
