The overnight crossing

Types of service
All scheduled Athens–Lesvos services are conventional large ferries. There is no high-speed catamaran on this route. The ships carry cars, motorbikes and foot passengers, and are equipped with cabins, a restaurant and deck seating.
Operators
Blue Star Ferries operates the main Athens–Lesvos overnight service. Ships often call at Chios en route, adding time but offering flexibility if you want to island-hop. Confirm your stop is Mytilene before boarding, and compare cabin categories when booking.
Lesvos and the North Aegean
Lesvos is the third-largest Greek island, known for its olive groves, ouzo distilleries, the Petrified Forest and the medieval castle at Mytilene. From here you can continue by ferry to Chios or Limnos, or take a short boat to the Turkish coast at Ayvalık.
